Each morning at Grand Lake Montessori, more than 30 staff seek parking and 150+ families drop-off their children. GLM is an urban school, and as such there is not as much parking as we would like. From 8:00 to 8:30 AM, when most vehicles arrive, the school has a negative impact on neighborhood traffic. We ask for both your understanding and your support in helping the staff create a brief, efficient drive-up and drop-off routine in order to make the process easier and smoother for everyone involved.
466 Chetwood St
8:00 to 8:30 AM, drop-off will be drive-up and drop-off only. Please see the map for details of how traffic will flow.
During drive-up and drop-off, a staff member will be helping to guide the flow of traffic, greeting you and your child, and helping you say goodbye. After staff members receive your child, you can pull out onto Chetwood St. with good visibility in both directions. Please, no backing up during this time as it would disrupt the flow of traffic. In addition, the city has designated five passenger-loading spaces on the street that can be used briefly (10 minute maximum, green curb).
In order to prepare your child for this change, we suggest that you tell your child you will be saying goodbye at the car and that you are sending them through the gate to their classrooms. Like dropping-off at the classroom, think about creating a ritual at the car that will help your child make the transition from car to school. You can think of it like an airport—where only ticketed passengers travel past the gate!

The GLM Staff and Administration truly appreciate your sincere effort at making this a smooth process in the morning for everyone and fostering your child’s independence by separating confidently each morning. And thanks for helping us be good neighbors!
